Activision Publishing has announced the release of Peanuts: Snoopy’s Town Tale on iOS devices. Developed by Pixowl -a Buenos Aires based company with a team with over 45 people-, the city-building game sees players become the ‘new kid’ in a town of their own design, as they collect and interact with characters from the Peanuts franchise.
Peanuts: Snoopy’s Town Tale has a similar setup to Pixowl’s Garfield: Survival of the Fattest city-building game, as players can assign each individual character to complete tasks and earn rewards. Users are led through the game by quests, and will construct a variety of buildings for their town as they progress. Many buildings and decorations generate resources over time, which can be used in crafting recipes to create new items.
These items may be required for quests or land expansions (as examples), or can be created to sell on the game’s ‘Want Ads’ board to earn extra experience points and coins. Players can hold a limited number of items their inventory, but can upgrade their storage space by spending specific resources.
As players progress, they’ll unlock key structures like the Baseball Field, which are used to earn extra rewards. For instance, players can assign up to five characters to play games at the Baseball Field to earn prizes including extra experience points and coins.
While players can unlock main characters like Charlie Brown, Lucy and Schroeder using coins (new characters become available over time), other characters (and their associated buildings) are available to purchase with premium currency. Players can also spend premium currency to speed up building and crafting timers.
The game’s social features allow users to connect to Facebook and visit their friends’ towns. While visiting another town, players can tap on three buildings or characters each day to receive free experience points and coins.
